Lisa Taliano paints intuitively, basing her choices of color and composition simply on feeling, allowing memories and daily life to infiltrate her work, the paintings like a visual diary. Inspired by the colors of Santa Fe, Taliano remarks that the “earth tones, paints made from elements of the earth, the ground, appeals to me – making the connection that these paintings are the literal and metaphoric ground of my being.” Her work, while abstract, often “plays within an ambiguous space that calls into question the distinction between figure and ground, subject and object, here and there”.

“Focusing on touch, texture, and the physicality of paint, my aim is to communicate through touch, the felt quality of experience – to give my feeling a physical reality by mixing them with paint.”
