VICKI SHER

In Vicki Sher’s paintings, each line is thoughtful, every squiggle deliberate.  Painted and cut papers are collaged onto paper.  There’s a subtle dance between line and form.  Half- moon shapes piled onto paper along with delicate and precise graphite embellishments.  Immersive in its scale and purposefully imperfect.  Whimsical, yet methodical.  There is restraint in the reserve.  Delight in the colors.  The paintings are open and airy, and while not always overt, there is a narrative aspect to the work.  Sher’s work emanates tranquil delight.

“I like a lot of space in my images. I believe that underneath the busy-ness of daily activity lies a quieter hum of human experience, the emotional realm: remote, inaudible and changeable.”
