Zohar Cohen

My paintings evolve through an ongoing process of building and transformation, where layers of color, drawing, and gesture merge and separate. Moving between landscape and abstraction, I am less interested in describing a place than in creating a field of relationships that unfolds through painting itself. At times the work appears as open passages of color and light, and at others as denser pictorial structures, yet it always remains grounded in an internal rhythm and a sense of light emerging from within the surface. I return repeatedly to places such as desert landscapes, forests, and open fields—not to represent them directly, but as points of departure for observation, memory, and experience.

Painting becomes a process of movement between what stabilizes and what shifts, allowing image and form to continuously reorganize themselves. Across the works, color, drawing, and light function as interconnected fields in constant transformation. Rather than fixed images, the paintings propose temporary relationships between image, surface, and space, inviting a slower and more attentive way of looking.
