LIZZIE SCOTT

Lizzie Scott cuts, paints, and sews layers of muslin into geometric sculptural shapes.  Her work is infused with color and tactility.  There is an interesting intersection between the simplicity of form and color juxtaposed with visible seams and imperfect edges.  The works feel interactive, an inclusive engagement between the organic and geometric, the stretch and the pull, the irregularity and unconventionality of design with the serene and clean form.  The works are whimsical, yet engaging in their simplicity.

“The paintings themselves are flexible, their presentation is adjustable, the edges are soft and the center is spongy. Even the overall shape looks like the typical painting rectangle has become flexible and then bent into your loose polygons.”
